Scope of Work
Ultimate Construction’s scope included the installation of the wood rainscreen, elevated decking, stair assemblies, and associated detail work. The deck was constructed as a water-managed assembly, allowing all surface water to pass through the walking surface to the waterproofed roof level below, where it is directed outward through the building’s roof drainage system.
Careful coordination was required to integrate the rainscreen, decking, and stair components while maintaining proper drainage, alignment, and long-term durability in a waterfront environment.

Project Highlights
While this project represented a different demand than Ultimate Construction’s typical work, the team executed the scope with the same level of expertise and delivered the quality results expected by our partners. The site’s limited footprint, combined with its proximity to the river, created logistical challenges that required careful material staging and sequencing.
Additional complications arose due to material theft from the job site, further stressing the schedule and requiring rapid adjustments to procurement and installation planning. Despite these constraints, the team remained focused on execution, maintaining quality standards while adapting to evolving site conditions.

Outcome / Results
Upon completion, the Maritime Center of Excellence stands as a distinctive and innovative achievement in both architecture and construction. At a glance, its boat-inspired form is something to marvel at – before even mentioning the building’s LEED Gold certification for efficiency. Ultimate Construction is proud to have been a part of this project, which reflects a high level of design intent executed through disciplined construction practices.
The finished exterior assemblies contribute to the building’s durability, performance, and visual identity, solidifying this project as a standout addition to Ultimate Construction’s portfolio.
