Scope of Work
Ultimate Construction was responsible for the custom fabrication and installation of approximately 8,000 square feet of Laminators Inc. ACM cornice, shop-fabricated in-house by Ultimate Construction’s subsidiary, ASF.
The cornice design consisted of a profiled ACM assembly, fabricated from single panels with multiple bends rather than flat panelized components. This required extensive field measurement, precision fabrication, and tight coordination between shop production and on-site conditions to ensure proper fit and alignment.

Project Highlights
One of the primary challenges of the South Norwalk Elementary School project was the complexity of the cornice profile itself. Unlike standard ACM panel systems, the cornice elements were formed from individual panels with multiple bends, leaving little tolerance for dimensional variance and requiring a high level of accuracy prior to fabrication.
The project was originally planned as a multi-phase installation but ultimately transitioned into a single extended phase. While the schedule was initially accelerated, installation sequencing was affected by dependencies on other trades, requiring Ultimate Construction to remain flexible and ready to mobilize as conditions allowed.
Logistical constraints on site limited staging and material handling options, requiring careful planning and just-in-time delivery of fabricated components. Additional coordination was required for sealant installation, which was subcontracted to maintain quality and consistency across all assemblies.

Outcome / Results
Despite schedule adjustments, logistical limitations, and the technical complexity of the profiled ACM cornice system, Ultimate Construction completed its scope successfully and in alignment with project requirements. Extensive pre-fabrication coordination and field verification allowed the custom assemblies to be installed cleanly once access was available.
All work was completed with zero recordable safety incidents, supported by daily job hazard analyses throughout the project. The finished cornice assemblies contribute to the architectural character of the school while meeting performance and durability expectations.
